Margot at the Wedding

Margot at the Wedding is a thoroughly depressing often very funny film that most people won't like. But I'm not most people and I loved it. It's about a completely dysfunctional and quite vicious family—especially its two sisters. Both are played elegantly by Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

I Am Legend

I enjoy Will Smith's acting, and his amiability as well. Both qualities shine through in this movie. I was a little less enthused about the action once Will and his faithful dog were joined by others. I liked I Am Legend quite a bit, and Sue hated it.

Atonement

Once again, the book beats the movie. The first third or so is absolutely terrific. The art direction in particular is stunning. I haven't seen so many beautiful frames since Barry Lyndon. Once the story turns to war, the art direction felt forced and false to me.
